Student Reports
Student reports are issued to all year groups twice per year, with year 7 students receiving a third report. The schedule below is a guide of when reports are issued to students:
Year 7: Autum 2, Spring 2 and Summer 2
Year 8: Spring 1, Summer 2
Year 9: Spring 2, Summer 2
Year 10: Spring 1, Summer 2
Year 11: Autumn 2, Spring 2
The purpose of our reports is two-fold:
- To provide parents with feedback on their son's/daughter's Academic Achievement, Academic Attitude, Homework Performance in each of their subjects.
- To act as a tool for revision to guide students in addressing any gaps that exist in their knowledge.
This second point is something that we feel is very important at Harris Falconwood. Students are scored from 1-4 against each of the end-points covered in lessons, with a 1 indicating that students have highly secure knowledge of this and a 4 indicating a significant knowledge gap. These scores are assigned by their class teacher with a holistic view in mind. It is not based on a single assessment but rather taking students assessment performance, in-class performance and exercise books into account.
We do not assign current grades or predicted grades to students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 - 9) as we believe that this is too early in their academic career to use such scales/make such predicitions with only a fraction of the relevant GSCE content covered up to this point. Students start their GCSE studies in Year 10 and we reflect this in our reports by providing both Current Grades and Predicted Grades.
The video guide below has more information about each of the sections of our report.
