Cultural Capital
Giving students opportunites to develop their cultural capital is a priority for us here at HAF. We do this through a range of different experiences including Focus Days, Culture Day, Sports Events, Wider Experience Days, Trips and Imagination Week.
Please take time to explore each of the sections below to see some of the amazing work we do here at the Academy.
Focus Days
Focus days provide fantastic opportunities for teachers to deepen the powerful academic knowledge of their students through enquiry, discussion and debate as students work off-timetable. Please see below for the Focus Day Overview. *Subject to change

Black History Month 2024
This year’s Black History Month theme, 'Reclaiming the Narrative,' encouraged pupils to explore the importance of Black history, culture, and the complexity of individual stories. In an inspiring assembly, Mr. Hadi emphasised the need for students to take ownership of their narratives and ensure their stories are authentically their own. Staff members highlighted Black inspirational figures across classrooms and the dining hall, while Mr. Ososanya curated a playlist of iconic Black musical artists, played over the tannoy each morning. The canteen also celebrated by offering authentic Afro-Caribbean cuisine throughout the month. To cap off the celebration, pupils can now enjoy recreating these dishes at home with Harris Academy Falconwood’s first-ever Black History Month cookbook!
