Programmes of Study

Programmes of study and entry requirements

At Harris Academy Falconwood Sixth Form we offer 3 main pathways of study. 

  • A-level – students who achieve a minimum of seven grade 5s at GCSE AND meet the subject specific entry requirements for their chosen qualifications will be able to access a programme of 3 A-level qualifications.

  • Combination – Students who achieve a minimum of three grade 5s and two grade 4s at GCSE will be able to access a combination of A-levels and vocational level 3 qualifications. For the A-level, students must have the minimum subject specific entry requirements.

  • Vocational – Students achieving a minimum five grade 4s at GCSE or equivalent, with at least a merit or grade 4 in a relevant equivalent qualification, will be able access our vocational level 3 qualifications.

We also offer GCSE Maths and English as resits for students that have not achieved a grade 4. Only one can be taken not both.

Curriculum Rationale  

Labour Market Employment Routes and the Curriculum:  

In 2023 The Office for National Statistics (ONS) produced a Labour Market report for the borough of Bexley. This predicts that most of the future net increases of jobs within the Bexley area will require attainment/training/skills acquisition at Levels 3 or above.  

Over 65% of jobs will require a Level 3 qualification or over. Within the Bexley area their model projects that there will be substantial jobs expansion demand particularly in higher qualified jobs such as Managers, Directors and Senior Officials, Professional Occupations and Administrative & Secretarial Occupations. The top 10 growing sectors in this area are predicted to be: 

  • Wholesale And Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles
