Enrichment Exchange & Academy Clubs Offer
Enrichment Exchange
Enrichment Exchange is an integral part of our curriculum here at Harris Academy Falconwood. It aims to provide your children with an opportunity to explore new experiences and develop valuable skills beyond our standard classroom offer. Enrichment Exchange takes place every Monday from 3.15pm to 4.05pm and is a compulsory part of our school curriculum.
We believe this is an essential time for our students to learn new skills and develop interests beyond our formalised taught curriculum offers. Furthermore, students also have the opportunity to interact with different students who share their interests and helping to develop cooperation, tolerance and respect.
The table below outlines our themes for our current Enrichment Exchange schedule. Each year group engages a specific theme and has three different enrichments in this theme.
Year | Theme | Enrichment 1 | Enrichment 2 | Enrichment 3 |
---|---|---|---|---|
Year 7 | Building Character | Identity of Self: Who We Are? | Debating: Everyday Heroes and Villians | One Voice: The Power of Communication |
Year 8 | Serving Our Community | Force for Change: Philanthropy and Random Acts of Kindness | Campaign for Justice | Debating: How do we Best Serve Each Other, Our Community, Our World? |
Year 9 | Broadening our Horizons | Massive Events for Change: How Cultural and Historical Events Changed Everything | Model UN | Debating: Personal Views and Beliefs |

Academy Clubs Offer
The Academy Clubs Offer is an extension to learning which gives students opportunities to make accelerated progress and access to new, more challenging concepts or content.
At Key Stage Three, there is a varied range of activities on offer which broaden the learning experience of the wider curriculum. At Key Stage Four, the enrichment sessions are used as part of our intervention programme to improve knowledge and understanding of subject specific information. All of our enrichment sessions are very worthwhile and can help students to develop key attributes such as problem solving, creative thinking and using their initiative.
Details of our current offer can be found at the bottom of the page.

Bexley Police Cadets
Bexley Police Cadets at Harris Academy Falconwood
Harris Academy Falconwood have a partnership with the Bexley Volunteer Police Cadets. They meet at HAF on Thursdays, and are always looking for new recruits to join their ranks. The Volunteer Police Cadets provide an opportunity to learn new skills, build new friendships, help in the local community, and provides excellent experiences to put on CVs and University and Apprenticeship applications.
There are two groups that meet weekly during term time:
Junior cadets (10 to 13) – Thursdays 5:30-7:00 PM at Harris Academy Falconwood
Senior cadets (13 to 18) – Thursdays 7:30-9:30 PM at Harris Academy Falconwood
Why should your child become a police cadet?
- Make new friends:â¯Become part of our policing family and build friendships that will last a lifetime.
- Learn new skills:â¯Build confidence, teamwork and leadership abilities.
- Become a community champion:â¯Help the community by taking part in policing operations and crime prevention initiatives.
- Enhance CVs and applications:â¯Whether applying for college, university or going straight into work, the cadets provide unique experiences to talk about in interviews.
- Learn something new about a policing topic or community issue in an interactive way
- Keep fit: Take part in sports sessions to build teamwork and leadership
All of this is taught by experienced cadet leaders, many of whom are serving police officers.
What else do they get up to?
- Cadets are given the opportunity to volunteer to assist policing operations, crime prevention initiatives and helping at large scale events such as the London Marathon.
- Camps and inter-borough competitions:
- Annual Cadet Competition at Gravesend where cadets take part in Policing Scenarios at our public order training centre
- First aid competitions
- Thriftwood and Avon Tyrell which involve fun team games and tasks.
